The landscape
Simply viewing the spectacular scenes possible by plane would have been very satisfying. Thanks to a 'last day' change in weather conditions and availablity of the pilot, a smooth flight was possible over the Vatnajokull glacier taking in the famous region that included Eyjafjallajokull volcano. The surrounding area was otherworldly to say the least. Large moss covered extrusions that took the form of gigantic feet....
